About the Company

Sumax Engineering Limited is engaged in the manufacturing and trading of products for the automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and auto refinish markets. Its manufacturing portfolio includes adhesive tapes and die-cuts, pre-taped masking film, rubbing and polishing compounds, buffing and foam pads, reflective tapes, domes and graphics, and car care products. The company also manufactures and supplies paint protection film (PPF), a thermoplastic polyurethane film used on vehicle-painted surfaces. Its trading portfolio comprises electrical and pneumatic tools, abrasive sheets, discs and rolls, body shop consumables, retail products, accessories and aerosol products. The company operates two manufacturing units, one at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, and another at IMT Manesar, Haryana. Its registered office is located in Secunderabad, Telangana. The company’s manufacturing processes are certified under ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 standards.

Pros

  • • Sumax Engineering has a diversified product portfolio covering adhesive tapes and die-cuts, rubbing and polishing compounds, buffing pads, reflective tapes, car care products, abrasive products and other automotive consumables. It has also entered the paint protection film (PPF) segment.
  • • The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified for quality management systems and IATF 16949:2016 certified for quality management systems specific to the automotive sector.
  • • The company claims to have in-house manufacturing facilities equipped with advanced machinery and technology. It states that these facilities allow it to control product development, quality assurance and manufacturing processes internally.

Cons

  • • The company is significantly dependent on imports for its purchases, with imported purchases accounting for Rs 81.82 crore (76.65%), Rs 73.92 crore (62.11%) and Rs 64.61 crore (61.71%) of total purchases in FY26, FY25 and FY24, respectively. Any disruption in imports, changes in import duties or restrictions imposed by India or exporting countries could increase costs, delay procurement and adversely affect the company’s operations.
  • • The company’s key customers contributed 55.59%, 46.43% and 43.92% of its total sales in FY26, FY25 and FY24, respectively. Any loss of one or more key customers, reduction in their procurement volumes, demands for lower prices, or a shift towards in-house production or competitors could adversely affect the company’s revenues and profitability.
  • • The company’s Group Company, Autokrom India Private Limited, operates in a partly similar line of business, including trading and distribution of automobiles, parts, accessories, equipment and other related products. Although the company has entered into a non-compete agreement with Autokrom India, any conflict of interest in allocating business opportunities or any expansion of the Group Company into overlapping activities could adversely affect the company’s business and financial condition.
